Is Your Home Ready To Live In Forever?

from Life Happens · host Kim Hegwood

Most people say they really want to stay in their own homes. And most have not thought about what it may take to be able to do that. With age comes the likelihood of decreased mobility. Kim is here today with an accessibility and mobility expert Christian Fitsch-Mouras with 101 Mobility. Christian and Kim will discuss: 1. What's the difference between Mobility and Accessibility? 2. What is Aging in Place? (overview) 3. How early should a homeowner think about Aging in Place? 4. Where to find the services and equipment needed? Tune in to get the information you need for yourself or for someone you know. _______________________________________________________________________________________ Christian began his career as an engineer in the corporate world where he managed projects across numerous countries throughout Europe, Africa, and Asia. Six years ago, as a longtime Houston resident, he decided to turn his attention toward something more purposeful within the community in which he and his family lived. That is when he started 101 Mobility in Houston, with a mission to help those choosing to remain safe and independent at home, versus a facility. His experience with his own parents (in their late eighties) had taught him how much this is needed! Later, he added certifications related to Aging in Place. One of those is C.A.P.S., making him a Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist; earned through the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). The second is C.H.A.M.P. or Certified Home Assessment and Modification Professional, by which he is able to support Workers Compensation cases involving people who have been injured on the job, typically with Spinal Cord Injuries or Traumatic Brain Injuries.
