Day 80 of the Iran-US conflict features escalating rhetoric and military brinkmanship, with U.S. President Donald Trump threatening devastating strikes if Iran refuses to negotiate a deal. In response, Tehran has declared its armed forces fully prepared to confront any renewed American or Israeli aggression. US and Nigerian forces eliminated Abu-Bilal al-Minuki, identified as the second-in-command of ISIS globally and head of its operations in Africa, during a joint operation. The World Health Organization (WHO) declared the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Uganda a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC). Ukraine launched one of its most extensive overnight drone assaults on Russian territory, deploying over 550 drones across 14 regions, including the Moscow area, over a nine-hour period on the night of May 16, 2026.
