Islanders Fire Roy, Hire DeBoer

The New York Islanders have made a bold move, firing head coach Patrick Roy and hiring Peter DeBoer for the remainder of the 2022-2023 season. Roys dismissal comes amidst a playoff push, with only four games left. The teams recent struggles and a need for fresh leadership led to this decision. The Islanders also recently hired Mathieu Darche as general manager, who drafted top prospect Matthew Schaefer and made a trade for veteran Brayden Schenn. While the move is seen as a smart short-term solution, the long-term implications of hiring DeBoer and paying two coaches simultaneously raise concerns about the teams future plans.
