Israel in Egypt

Charles Spurgeon uses the story of Moses and the Israelites crossing the Red Sea as a picture of the Christian church's journey, explaining that just as Israel escaped slavery in Egypt but was pursued by Pharaoh's army, Christians are freed from sin but still face enemies in this world that God protects them from. He promises that just as all of Israel crossed safely and sang a victory song when their enemies drowned, all true believers will one day be safely in heaven singing praises when God finally destroys all evil, sin, and Satan forever. Spurgeon warns that just as Pharaoh's army perished in the sea with terrible screams, those who reject Christ will face eternal punishment, urging his listeners to repent and trust in Jesus to be saved and join the victory song in heaven.Sermon delivered by Charles Spurgeon on June 14, 1857.
