Israeli groups help Venezuela despite absence of diplomatic ties

from Kan English · host כאן | Kan

Two 11-year-old boys have separately been rescued from the rubble of collapsed buildings within hours of each other, after powerful earthquakes struck Venezuela.  Officials have confirmed at least 1,430 deaths. Tens of thousands of people are still missing. Despite the lack of diplomatic relations between Israel and Venezuela, a number of Israeli humanitarian and international development organizations quickly launched emergency relief efforts in response to the devastating earthquake.  Drawing on long-established local partnerships, regional operations, and staff with dual citizenship, the organizations mobilized rapidly within hours of the disaster. KAN's Mark Weiss  spoke with Ayelet Levin-Karp, CEO of SID Israel, the umbrella organization for Israel's humanitarian aid and international development community.
