It's "D" Time... But Can Democrats Make it Prime Time?

from Black Politics Today · host Black Politics Today

The Democrats takeover of the House of Representatives continues to grow increasing their margins, but the question is, can Democratic leaders control a legislative agenda that will speak to the voters that put them in control? Democrats sought to compromise & find bi-partisanship on their legislative agenda, after two-years of the GOP kicking dirt in their faces. So, how will their base feel about being kicked around and having their leadership throw olive branches of bi-partisanship? And how will they divide up the leadership of Congressional Black Caucus members whose voters are behind the onslaught that gave Dems their victories?  #BlackGIrlsMagic came alive for 17 of 19 women running for Judgeships in Harris County Texas, a county with deep history of negative treatment towards African Americans. Seventeen Black Women have now taken control of that county and its civil, criminal and juvenile courts, mandating a change is going to come. Joining me tonight to discuss this and topics vital to the curating of a Black Agenda, is Justice-elect Angela Graves-Harrington, Managing Partner, and civil, criminal, & family law attorney. She is licensed by the State of Texas, the Southern and Western Districts of Texas, and the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals. She is a certified ad litem and is appointed by the State of Texas to represent indigent clients. Also joining us is Rev. Ralph Chittams, Sr., Principal of Black Elephant Consultants LLC, a company that focuses on issues of religious liberty on the national and international stage. Finally, Dr. Johnny B. Hill, Associate Professor of philosophy and religion at Claflin University, author of "The First Black President: Barack Obama, Race, Politics, and the American Dream, and BPT Contributor.
