Let's get started Well at this point black Friday and cyber Monday are in the rearview mirror and today is giving Tuesday But undoubtedly some people are a little confused about what giving Tuesday actually is because some people are giving Will Smith the cold shoulder While others are giving him a second chance.
What am I talking about? Well, if you haven't heard he has a new movie coming out called emancipation It's a slavery movie premiering on December 2nd And then it's going to stream on Apple TV plus starting on the 9th and because the slap that was heard around the world Or actually felt around the world because it hasn't even been a year yet People are a little unsure if they want to go see Will Smith in a movie there in their feelings rightfully so because How do you how do you move past something like that? Now granted none of us were Chris Rock We weren't in his shoes to be the one that was slapped But some of us are feeling the effects of that whole ripple type of fact Will Smith slapped him and now these are the ripples that are being felt long after the situation has taken place I don't know some people are saying you know what you can't cancel him forever and nobody's saying that that's what they're gonna Do but it's still a little early, you know, it just depends on you it depends on the person a lot of people are like You know what I didn't like him to start with so guess what? I'm gonna go see the movie and that's perfectly fine, too Do you boo?
But the bottom line is people are giving him a little bit of everything Some are giving him grace others are giving him a hard time. He's already come out and said he understands He's okay with it if you if you want to go see it then come on join the fun If you don't I understand because guess what the movie's still gonna be there when you get over it And you decide that you've forgotten about it the next big thing is happening Kanye has said something else That just didn't make sense and you forgot about Will the movie will still be there and you can go check it out Still on the topic of celebrities and giving if you didn't hear about Howard Stern's comments about Oprah He's got an issue with her saying that on her Instagram. She flaunts her wealth And I say who cares it's hers the flunk if that's what she wants to do But just like on my Instagram. I can only post what I do what I know what I have what I've got going on Oprah's just doing the same thing So what if she's got a whole farm in her backyard and she doesn't have to go to the grocery store She can just go and pick up all of her produce from her backyard Go you get a girl, you know, I can't be mad at Oprah She came from very humble beginnings So to say that she is where she is now if she wanted to put it on a billboard or write it up in the sky That's our business now.
Do you have to go look up in the sky or read the billboard over and over again? No, you don't mind your business. You know the fact that he's talking about what she posts on Instagram I look at it from the standpoint of you know, I don't see her stuff on Instagram like that So you must be looking for something you're trying to find something and making something out of nothing You know, there are a lot of celebrities out there that have a lot and they don't give a crap about anybody or anything other than themselves They don't give anything whereas Oprah on the other hand has been very giving throughout her whole career And then whatever she's choosing to do with herself now She's been giving she gives within the continental United States and abroad and some people may say oh, but that's tax write-offs But it's giving nonetheless. Let's not get it twisted.
There are people out there that are making a lot of money that aren't given anything Even for a tax write-off instead They're trying to launder the money they're doing underhanded things to try to keep their money and make money and not be giving And I feel like the reason Oprah has so much is because she is so giving and the fact that she will show you that she's giving Some people be like oh, but in the Bible it says don't let the right hand see what the left hand's doing blas de blah You know, I think you got it wrong because it also says let your light shine so that people can see, you know So she's showing people one that it can be done She's doing and giving and hopefully it will inspire you to give and do and be better So I said all of that to say Oprah call me girl We can chat and you can show me all the pictures give me a grand tour I don't mind you did that girlfriend you did that enjoy what you have continue to give the way that you see fit and don't mind I know you're not losing any sleep over these chumps. Howard Stern. He probably don't even come across your radar You probably hadn't even heard about this situation yet and that is perfectly fine girlfriend So for this episode to be about giving to you say I have barely talked about the actual event giving Tuesday I've been talking about everything else under the Sun So giving Tuesday re-imagines a world built upon shared humanity and radical generosity And a lot of times people want to assume that it always means giving money and sure you can give money You can pay it forward, but there are other things that you can do you can give nourishment You can give of your time. You can help a neighbor.
You can give kindness Give talents give voice You can even give to the earth all of these different ways are ways to give and in a lot of ways You know you can think outside the box and come up with plenty of other ways that you can give on this giving Tuesday and beyond So before we wrap up this episode though I do want to cover some things that companies have going on because this is the holiday season and people are buying gifts You know you probably broke the bank with Black Friday and Cyber Monday Hopefully it got a few coins left over you didn't get all the people on your list And if that's the case then you might want to consider some of these various brands who have some things going on for giving Tuesday There's one company called Cloudpaper and for every purchase made on giving Tuesday cloudpaper is going to plant a tree through their partnership with one tree planted Disney is hosting the Disney ultimate toy drive benefiting toys for tots Instacart has launched community carts Which is a feature that let shoppers easily donate grocery items to select food banks across the United States Low and sons as LO and sons is one of the favorites They're gonna be donating 2% of proceeds from its cyber week sale to heart of dinner Which helps combat food insecurity among New York City's Asian elderly community So that's a specific community if that tickles your fancy then you might want to consider looking up low and sons There's also other companies that are giving back like Carol's daughter It's one of the products that I use Carol's daughter They've partnered with mama glow flam not foundation mama glow foundation to create the love delivered initiative And it's a program that brings increased awareness to black maternal health Carol's daughter is going to donate ten thousand dollars to doula services for families in need as a part of the initiative as well as a dollar donation for every Like comment and share on the brands giving Tuesday Instagram posts So that doesn't even cost you a dime you can donate a dollar simply for liking and then another one for commenting and another one for sharing That's three dollars for free. You didn't have to pay a single dime out of your pocket and then let's see Meta is matching 100% of donations after the second monthly donation for those signed up to donate monthly to a nonprofit on Facebook That sounds like a whole lot But basically what they're saying is don't just do it once do two donations and when your second one rolls around Then we'll match that one a hundred percent So basically they're making sure that you've got skin in the game before they put their own skin in the game But nonetheless, it's still a pretty awesome deal now and there are a couple of other things I wanted to point out this one company Anthropology they're donating 100% of all candle proceeds made in stores and online to a group called Young Arts Which is an organization that invests in the lifelong creative freedom of exceptional young artists So they have this one item in particular Capri blue volcano mercury glass jar candle is thirty six dollars The entire thirty six dollars would be donated to young arts I think that's awesome and then on top of that of course, you know, you can use it as a gift So not only did you give to something to someone you gave a gift to young artists Excuse me young arts Which actually encompasses young artists. Okay.
