Welcome to the Tweed Trends podcast. Hey, Evette, what's trending today? Hey, I'm Evette. Hey, girl.
And you are tuned in to Tweed Trends. It's the quickest way to find out what's trending today. It's not too late. Let's get started.
Hello, and welcome back to Tweed Trends. I want to talk to you about something today, and I don't know who this is for, other than myself. But I believe that there's somebody else out there that needs to hear this, and you need to hear it at this very second that you were listening to this. Now, yesterday was Tuesday.
And somehow or another, I let Tuesday get away from me. Normally I released my episodes on Tuesday, but I didn't. Now, I knew yesterday was Tuesday because I had appointments on Tuesday, and I made them. But somehow or another, I missed my podcast completely.
But then today, I think I understand why that happened. It didn't happen yesterday because it wasn't supposed to happen yesterday. Had I done my podcast yesterday, it would have been on a completely different topic, and I might have never run into the thing that caught my attention today to be able to put it out at any given point in the future. So where I was kicking myself this morning when I realized that yesterday was Tuesday, I'm now showing myself a little bit of grace because I believe that it wasn't supposed to happen yesterday.
It was meant to happen today. The recording was meant to be happening at this very moment, and you were meant to be listening to this at this very moment. So you're probably saying, well, what happened so much today? Did you believe deep down within your soul that all of this happened the right way?
Well, let me tell you. Here's what happened. Today, while listening to one of my all-time favorite shows, Head of Be Live on Sirius XM, she was talking with Mike News and her listeners about her cousin. Now, had I been related to Heather B, I would have said she was talking about me.
She was saying that her cousin reached out to her and asked her a question. She asked her, is it too late for me? Is it too late? And Heather was like, you know, I don't understand where this question's coming from.
What do you mean? And so the cousin proceeded to say about how, you know, she had dreams and aspirations and life happened and took her in different directions and she didn't get to follow those things. Now, before you jump to conclusions, I'm not saying that I'm not happy or pleased with my life. But what I am saying is that I've got idea books, dream books, where I said that there were things that I wanted to do that haven't done yet.
Some of the things I was on on target to get it done and then something happened and it's still just sitting there, partially done. So more than just being unhappy, for me, it's more of a I'm disappointed at my age and the amount of time that I have had to do the things, I haven't done the things. But the point in all of this is that it's not too late. That was the point that Heather was trying to get across to the listeners and what she was saying that she was telling her cousin.
She was telling her own story about how when she was 19 years old, she signed her first record contract album deal. But then by the time the mid to late 20s came around, she was in a different season. Things were happening differently. And whereas other people that were her age were in their lane doing their thing, she was now trying to figure things out.
And she even says that it was about a 10-year window there that she was trying to figure things out in. And it's like, wow. But now here she is. She has multiple shows on satellite radio.
She's got lots of things going. She's got a makeup line or a look-loss line. She's got these things that are happening now. So she's like, you know, I'm a testament.
I'll testify. It's not too late. It's never too late. And that is the message that I might have missed had I got my episode going yesterday.
I might have missed this today and not able to then spread the conversation that I was a part of earlier today to you. Because if you don't listen to Sirius XM, if you're not subscribed, or if you don't listen to how to be live, you would have never known this conversation to a place and be an endoiser. But maybe you needed to hear this too, just like me. Maybe you needed someone to tell you that it's not too late for you to do whatever that thing is that you had your heart set on doing eons ago.
Maybe it's not too late. But in order for it to work, in order for you to be able to do it, there's something that you have to do. All right, I see you sitting up on the edge of your seat. You're like, oh my gosh, he's about to tell me what do I need to do?
Well, hey, let's start like this. Go ahead and sit back, relax, and take this in. You've got to do something different. You cannot be on autopilot.
Get up, brush your teeth, eat breakfast, go to work, come home, fix the food, take care of the kids, do all the things, go to sleep, wash your hands, repeat. You can't do that. You have to do something different. As long as you stay in that same sequence of events day in and day out, you'll never do anything different.
So it might mean you have to get up a little bit earlier in the morning to get that workout in. It might mean that you have to stay up a little bit later at night to write a couple pages of that novel that you've been wanting to write. It may even mean that you have to tell somebody, no, that's a whole sentence. You don't have to give anybody a reason why you're saying no.
It's none of their business. Why you're saying no. No is no all day long. So when you tell that person, no thanks.
When they ask you to donate your time, your talents, whatever it is that you do so well, when they ask you to volunteer and do that thing, tell them no. No, I don't have time to do that. And you take that time and you use it for the thing that you need to do for yourself. Nobody's doing things for us.
AI might be smart, but AI ain't going to get it done for you. You've got to tell AI to do it. That means you have to have time to tell it. That means you have to change something.
Change is uncomfortable. Change is difficult. But change makes things happen without doing something different. How can you get to that new end result?
Isn't that the definition of insanity doing the same thing the same way over and over again? You can't live your day in, day out existence doing the same thing and think that you're going to have a different end result at the end of the day. But understand this. If you decide that three days a week, I'm going to stay up a little bit later.
Write a couple of pages of that book. Work on that clothing design. Play around with the craft that I enjoy doing. Say you do that every couple of days.
You dedicate a little bit of time to it. That little bit of time is going to grow and grow and grow. And before you know it, you'll be at the finish line. You will have done the thing that you've been trying to do for so long.
And it's done, it's finished. Think of how that would make you feel inside that feeling of accomplishment. That you did that thing that you said you wanted to do. Maybe at school.
Maybe you want to go back to school and get a degree. Take it one class at a time. Ship away at that degree. And before you know it, you will have earned it.
And you can do whatever it is you wanted to do at that degree at that point. You reallocate that time to whatever the new thing is that you need to do. But you can't keep giving and giving and giving to everyone else and not give to yourself. Because then you'll find yourself in that position like Heather's cousin and asking yourself, did I wait too long?
Is my time done? The answer is no. But you have to make a change. Thanks so much for listening to today's episode.
Maybe it wasn't for you. Maybe it's for your best friend, your cousin, your mama, somebody that you know. Share this episode with them because you never know. I know it was for me.
But I cannot help but to feel that somebody else out there needed to be reminded. Because I'm not going to pretend and think that, oh gosh, I just dropped some gems on you that nobody ever knew. No, we know it. We know that we have to do things differently.
But we feel like we are tethered to the things that we already do and we can't do it. Or we're going to let somebody down or they're going to be disappointed or they're not going to like us. Or there's going to be some catastrophic thing that's going to happen if we change things. And that's not the case.
The catastrophic thing that's going to happen is it's going to bring you joy. It's going to bring you fulfillment. And it's going to make you feel good inside. That's not so bad.
Let that avalanche fall on me, please. And thank you. But I digress. Once again, thank you so much for listening to today's episode.
I pray that you would share it with somebody. And yeah, let's do something different.
