This week on the Retirement Quick Tips podcast, I'm talking about Smart Splurges: The Things I Love Spending Money On According to a recent survey by Motley Fool Money, today's retirees splurge too! The top wasteful things today's retirees spend money on are food, utilities, and lottery tickets. Baby boomers are more likely than the average consumer to waste food by throwing out leftovers or expired items, to leave appliances or utilities running unnecessarily, to buy brand-name pantry items and to buy lottery tickets.
