It's Okay To Question Your Pediatrician's Sleep Advice

from The Snooze Button: Baby & Toddler Sleep, Simplified

No hate no shade! Pediatricians are some of my favorite people. Great ones are a LIFELINE to their patients, and they are wonderful partners, sounding boards, and resources for me as a professional. But all pediatricians are not created equal, and more importantly, they really aren't trained on sleep at all. Despite over a decade of schooling and training required for this very difficult and important job, pediatric med students/residents get between 2-4 hours TOTAL across all of their training on sleep. So if you hear something that doesn't sit well with you, confuses you, or seems to make your child's sleep worse - permission to say no (and find a different pediatrician - because the best ones work with people like me!)Loved this episode?
