Its time for Coast Mental Health’s “Just Say Hello” initiative. My thoughts on this campaign

from Rachel Thexton Connects · host Rachel Thexton

In Greater Vancouver, we pass those who are homeless daily. Some are crying, laying in the cold, or simply sitting calmly. We tend to look away, passing quickly without making eye contact, and not wanting to think much about why that person is struggling. While homeless, this individual is likely experiencing pain and loneliness, along with judgment. It may seem simple but recognizing a person with eye contact, and a greeting, as encouraged by Coast Mental Health’s #JustSayHello campaign is a small but vital step. I hope that people take this to heart. A simple greeting, and kind recognition of an individual, can make a difference in their day. I am not easily impressed by campaigns related to mental health, as many seem more focused on optics than true change.. This feels different. This feels authentic. #JustSayHello Coast Mental Health | Compassion | Courage | Recovery Music by Olexy from Pixabay Co-Produced by Rachel Thexton and Angel Araujo
