A múlt héten pakisztáni közvetítéssel állítólag egyeztetni kezdett Washington és Teherán, Irán azonban tagadja a diplomáciai kapcsolatfelvételt. Miközben a Fehér Ház sajtóértesülések szerint Mohammed Bager Galibaf iráni házelnököt szemelte ki potenciális tárgyalási partnernek, Donald Trump tovább növelte az amerikai katonai jelenlétet a térségben, amire Galibaf paprikás üzenettel reagált. Folytatódik tehát a találgatás arról, hogy Trump szárazföldi akcióra készülhet Iránban, a Harg-sziget elfoglalásán túl felmerült az iszlám köztársaság dúsított uránkészletének elrablása is.
