ITV and neurodiverse parenthood: Back where it all began - With Jack

In today's episode I am joined with Jack who was diagnosed with Asperger's when he was 3 years old. We talk about the process of being Autistic young. Me and Jack first met on a panel about 2 months ago The puberty panel. Produced by Sez Francis We talk about school education and how much it has to change. A really good analogy especially mainstream school it's like a game of Pac -Man everything is fast paced almost like you have to race against time itself to doing something like an activity get to class it's extraordinary. Jack shares his experience in education as we both have similar educational stories. And talking about how hard it can to get into a special school especially for the parents out there, we also mention how we dislike the world special we explain our reasoning in the episode. We move on talk about the pandemic, Jack shares his story getting a adopted son during the start of the pandemic in 2020, it's a really inspirational story because before meeting his son it had to be done over zoom for 6 weeks. Jack explains the whole process and how being a Dad has been important to him. in 2005 it was legal for Gay couples to adopt Jack was 18 at the time, Jack said he opened the path the child to come from neurodiverse family setting as Jack understands. This is a inspirational story especially at the start of the pandemic, like a car go, pause and stop routine all over the place. We both share how the start of the pandemic affected us and touch that covid-19 isn't gone by a long shot. Mason shares his story too. Towards the end of the episode we talk about how finding a job is really hard for autistic people. Jack talks about his Job he works for ITV Jack says "It's really fun but really tiring, I mask a lot it's like there two different me's I have to get things ready for the hosts and guests and be on time as everything is Live!" The Shows Jack works for under ITV... Good Morning Britain, Lorraine, This Morning, Loose Women Really cool and all Morning shows. Jack shares some good advise saying its good to advocate and to all the parents it can be hard but we all pull through always a fight.
