Ivanhoe Chapter 3

In which the Saxon thane Cedric prepares his rude and spacious hall for the evening meal, impatiently awaiting the return of his herdsman and the arrival of his favourite jester, whilst harbouring a proud but restless spirit in the twilight of his years. Guests of Norman descent, including a jovial Prior and a renowned yet feared Templar knight, arrive seeking lodging for the night, testing the hospitality and simmering tensions of this Saxon household.
