Ivanhoe Chapter 34

In which the ambitious Prince John convenes his allies at York to further his designs upon the throne, only to find his plans thwarted by the unexpected movements of his enemies and the disloyalty of some of his followers. The advent of Richard Plantagenet’s return adds a perilous uncertainty to the conspiracy, compelling John to set spies and guards upon his own men, whilst plotting to seize his brother with chilling resolve.
