IVF at 39 & a Natural Birth with an OBGYN

Today on The Natural Birth Podcast we have Helen. Helen is a stay at home mother of two, airbnb superhost, and a property developer who lives on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia.  Today we will hear about how Helen became pregnant with her first baby at 39 years old using IVF and then experienced secondary infertility until she became pregnant with her second. A long, painful but essentially empowering conception story for both. She was 43 and a half for her second and it was actually a natural conception after doing a huge amount of preconception work and self education as the medical system wasn’t finding answers. Something you’ll learn more about in the beginning of this episode. She also opted for a private OBGYN and private hospital birthing experience and did lots and lots of birth preparation and ended up having the natural birth she wanted. Mind you her OBGYN didn’t make it to the birth and the midwife wasn’t in the room as her baby’s head crowned.
