Ivy Spohnholz: Alaska State Director of The Nature Conservancy and former State House Representative

Send us Fan MailIvy Spohnholz is the Alaska State Director of The Nature Conservancy, which is a global environmental organization and the largest non-profit organization by assets in the Americas. Their mission is to conserve the lands and waters on which all life depends. Prior to becoming the Alaska director of the Nature Conservancy, Ivy had served three terms in the Alaska House of Representatives where she chaired the Ways and Means Committee and Co-chaired the Labor and Commerce Committee. She passed several important pieces of legislation during her time in office, most notably, a price transparency in health care law and a law expanding telehealth options in Alaska. We discuss her sudden entry into the legislature when she was appointed by Gov. Walker to replace Max Gruenberg who had died unexpectedly in 2016 as well as her surprising decision not to seek re-election in 2022. This episode was recorded in Ms. Spohnholz's office downtown and there are some bird and street sounds.
