Jack Lu | Co-Founder of Magic Eden — Going Multi-Chain, Building for Web3, and the Future of NFTs

from BeaconLayer Podcast

In this episode of BeaconLayer Podcast, Kenzi Morikawa, Diksha Wells, and Sachi Miyasaki sit down with Jack Lu, CEO and one of the four co-founders of Magic Eden, to talk through the platform’s evolution from a Solana-native NFT marketplace into a broader multi-chain hub — and what that shift says about where NFTs are actually going. Before co-founding Magic Eden, Jack built experience across FTX, Google, and Boston Consulting Group. Magic Eden launched in September 2021 and quickly became a home base for Solana NFT collections. As the market matured, the team leaned into a multi-chain thesis — integrating Ethereum-based NFT collections and later adding Polygon as a third supported chain in November 2022, reinforcing their commitment to a multi-chain future. The conversation gets into what “multi-chain” really means operationally (not just as a slogan), the trade-offs in supporting different ecosystems, and how marketplaces stay relevant when creators can mint anywhere and attention moves fast. Jack also shares why Magic Eden has focused so heavily on creator- and community-first tooling — including being among the earliest major marketplaces to ship a Launchpad-style experience to help creators create, mint, market, and launch collections more smoothly.
