Jack Owens Extension & DePaul’s Culture Push | Depaul Blue Demons Basketball News

DePaul basketball’s assistant coach Jack Owens just got a two-year contract extension — a major sign the program is committed to long-term growth. In his latest podcast appearance, Owens revealed how they’re prioritizing culture in year three, especially as the transfer portal reshapes college hoops. He broke down the 2026 class, spotlighted summer development of players like Layden Blocker and Fabian Flores, and praised Kruz McClure’s progress. The team’s perimeter shooting has improved, and they’re adding serious size with seven-footers in the frontcourt — poised to change their defensive and offensive identity. Owens also shared lessons from his time under Matt Painter at Purdue, which is especially relevant as DePaul faces them this season. With strong backing from athletic leadership and President Rob Manuel, Owens’ extension signals a foundation being built for sustained success in the Big East.
