Jackson Jobe’s Comeback & Potential | Detroit Tigers News

Jackson Jobe, Detroit’s electric third-overall pick from 2021, is back on the mound after Tommy John surgery—and he’s showing why scouts were so hyped. In his fifth start, he battled through five innings, giving up four earned runs and two homers, but also striking out four for a season-high. While divisional foes like the Twins and White Sox have exposed his weaknesses, he’s still flashing elite stuff: 100 mph fastballs, a nasty curve, and a developing splitter. Most encouraging? His ground-ball rate has skyrocketed, signaling smarter pitch execution. Though his ERA and record don’t scream dominance yet, the talent is undeniable when he’s not facing AL Central teams. With time, refinement, and more experience, Jobe could become one of baseball’s most electrifying young arms—and Detroit might just be onto something special.
