Notable advances such as chemo-immunotherapy in the first-line setting and lurbinectedin in the second-line setting have now become guideline-recommended standards of care and propelled the treatment of SCLC forward. Further research efforts are focused on understanding the underlying biology and potential subtypes of SCLC, what biomarkers may be useful in refining treatment selection, and evaluation of novel therapeutic options and rational combinations.
