Jacqui Bauers: Joint Joint, founder & Massage Therapist

from OVERexpressed & OUT

Jacqui Bauers is a licensed massage therapist who has been practicing massage therapy for 15 years. She has worked with adults and children and specializes in oncology massage. Currently, she is part of the Integrative Health Team at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, working with children going through cancer treatment. She has also worked with Unite For Her as a provider of oncology massage for breast and ovarian cancer patients and has been involved with many of Living Beyond Breast Cancer’s events for the breast cancer community.Along with her massage work, she is also the founder of Joint Joint, a company that produces organic, full spectrum hemp, CBD balm and other topicals to soothe aches and promote stress relief. It is her passion to help people find their way to feeling good through advancing the role of integrative therapies in medical care and by sharing her love of plant based medicine via Joint Joint’s products.Joint Joint products are being used on cancer patients struggling with neuropathy at the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center at Jefferson Hospital. The director of palliative care was given a sample by a patient who already had experience with the product. He got in touch and stated that he found Joint Joint to be significantly better than other topicals he has tried from dispensaries in his travels. They have consistently ordered Joint Joint for use on patients struggling with neuropathy for over a year now.More recently, Penn Medicine’s Head and Neck surgery office has purchased samples Joint Joint multiple times to give to patients, as part of a cancer survivorship program. Initially, a nurse practitioner in the office was given a sample by someone on her team, and she found it to be effective for soothing some of the side effects of treatment for head and neck cancers.Individuals trying to cope with the effects of cancer treatment have provided feedback as well. For example, recently a woman contacted Joint Joint to explain she has severe neuropathy from her ovarian cancer treatment. She shared that Joint Joint’s balm is the only thing that helps her cope with it and gives her enough relief to do her daily activities.

The stigma of mental health within those who serve in the shadow of the cross is something that invokes the stigma of fear. Many of those in the clergy will choose to suffer in their despair rather than reaching out for help. Sometimes those suffering choose to wait until it's too late to get the real help that they need. At Wounded Warriors of the Cross our mission is to lift the stigma and the veil of silence that encompasses clergy mental health and assist those who suffer in silence. Wounded Warriors of the Cross is here to shed the light of Christ's love into those dark places.
