Ciężki łowca czołgów Jagdtiger, dosłownie Tygrys-łowca, samobieżne działo pancerne uzbrojone w potężną armatę kal. 128 mm, zadebiutował na polu walki 1 stycznia 1945 roku. Debiut, w ramach 653. batalion ciężkich łowców czołgów (schw.Pz.Jg.Abt 653), nie był zbyt okazały, gdyż do działań weszły tylko dwa pojazdy. I to pomimo tego, że batalion skierowano na front już 7 grudnia 1944 roku, i to z 28 pojazdami na stanie. Jagdtiger był jednak na tyle awaryjny i na tyle kłopotliwy w obsłudze, iż koncentracja batalionu do walki stanowiła dla Niemców spore wyzwanie.
