Jason Steven Plummer was born December 19th, 1974, in Boise, Idaho, to Steve, a lumber wholesaler, and Marilyn Plummer, a teacher. Jason, who preferred Jake, and his brothers Eric and Brett, grew up in Smiley Creek, Idaho, which was a town of about 50 people in the Sawtooths, a section of the Rocky Mountains. Jake was a three-sport, star athlete, playing baseball, basketball and football at Capital High School in Boise. Plummer made the all-state team as both a quarterback and a punter, in both his junior and senior year, while passing for 6,097 yards and 68 touchdowns. His versatility and stats attracted the attention of Arizona State University, and after graduation, Jake accepted a scholarship that made him an Arizona Sun Devil.
