JAMAICAN GANGSTER: Harry Dog — The Right-Hand Man Who Knew Too Much
from History of the Caribbeans | Exploring Resilience and Culture · host history experts | Joe & Kevin
Harry McLeod, better known as Harry Dog, was described as one of the most influential figures inside the inner circle that once controlled Tivoli Gardens. He was widely regarded as the right-hand man of Christopher “Dudus” Coke and a top lieutenant within the Presidential Click. Harry Dog understood the streets, the loyalties, the rivalries, and the system that operated behind the walls of West Kingston. After Dudus was extradited, the old structure began to collapse. Competing factions fought for control, violence increased, and the silence that once protected Harry Dog started working against him. On January 30, 2021, Harry Dog was standing on Darling Street in downtown Kingston when a silver vehicle approached. The men inside opened fire. Harry Dog was rushed to the hospital, but he did not survive. Police publicly stated that they had a strong idea of who was responsible. Yet no publicly confirmed arrest brought the case to a clear ending. Was Harry Dog killed because of an old rivalry, a new power struggle, or because he knew too much about the system that once governed Tivoli Gardens?
