Charlie James: All right, welcome to the program on your Thursday afternoon. So glad—you don't know how much joy it brings me to spend my afternoons with you folks. It is absolutely amazing. We appreciate you tuning in. Well, you just heard that former Representative Chris Murphy was found dead in his home last night, only 58 years old. Man, that is way too young, guys. Way too young. So, thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends, and loved ones. Again, former state Representative Chris Murphy passing away at the age of 58. [clears throat] That's hard news to hear. Well, we all know about the Senate race here in South Carolina. Coming up at 4:35, we're going to be talking with Duke Buckner, who is also running for the Senate. Now, as far as we know, the only person that I know of—and I can absolutely verify—that has gone to the election office and filed is Mark Lynch. Now, I know a lot of people are out there saying, "I'm running, I'm in." Um, I know that Russell Fry is saying that. I know that Ralph Norman is—I mean, they're running. I just don't know if they've made it by the office yet. They've got until Tuesday to do that. Um, but Russell Fry—so you got Duke Buckner, who we'll talk to, is saying he's running. Russell Fry. You've got, um, of course, Dalynn Graham. You've got... Who else? I know I'm missing somebody else here, but, uh... but you kind of get the point. No, not Jim DeMint. JJ just said, "What about Jim DeMint?" Jim DeMint has actually endorsed Ralph Norman for this race. Um, so, but there's somebody else that is announcing that they are running. And let's take a listen to his announcement today. Wait a minute, hold on, doggone it, I had all that set up. Here we go, here's the announcement. Mark Sanford (Campaign Announcement Video): I'm Mark Sanford. Lindsey's death is a reminder to all of us of how short and precious life is. My own dad got Lou Gehrig's disease when I was in high school, and this notion of all of us having just a little time has always hit me hard. We're stewards of our lives and the things that we love for just a short time. I'm now a dad and a granddad, and I'm worried for our children because for the first time, America's borrowing from the future faster than we're building it. We'll add about a trillion dollars to the national debt over the next 100 days, and if left unaddressed, that debt will crush our economy, it'll wipe out our savings, and it could even destroy our republic. Our ability to afford things, inflation, and the way people struggle to build a life are but symptoms of spending beyond our means as a country. We're at a tipping point, and that's why I've decided to run for the U.S. Senate. I'd ask that you look at my record in Congress and as governor in watching out for your family's future. I was ranked first in all of Congress in efforts to protect your wallet or pocketbook. As governor, we held the line on spending as no governor before or since has ever done. We acted as a steward, whether in reforms of government, that things like your time at a DMV office, or in protecting the lands of South Carolina that so many of us have walked, hunted, or fished on over the years. I won't labor the point— Charlie James: All right, so... Woah, woah, hold on. That's Mark Sanford announcing that he is running for governor—I'm sorry, for the S—I'm not announcing!—running for the Senate in South Carolina. But here's my biggest fear about Mark Sanford: He is going to be another anti-Trump individual. He's going to be another Thomas Massie. He's going to be another person to get in there and fight Trump tooth and nail at every single turn. So, he would be—he would be somebody that would vote for a government shutdown for the wrong reasons. He would side with the Democrats. So, I... and then, of course, we've got the whole Appalachian Trail scandal over Mark Sanford where he just kind of disappeared for a few days.
