Jamie Lynch From OG8 New Single, Album And Tour Time To Recognize

from Arroe Collins: Unplugged & Totally Uncut · host Arroe Collins

“Recognize” is Original 8 (OG8) lead singer Jaime Lynch’s personal mantra. And while she ends the new single, “W.O.M.A.N” with the phrase “I am woman, recognize…”, the meaning behind it goes way back to how Lynch and her bandmates have approached both the music business and life.Based in Portland, Ore., the driving force behind OG8 is founder and guitarist Troy Williver. Bent on being a band that doesn’t rely on a record label for both success and acknowledgment, in early 2023 Williver established Beat Farm Music. From there, the OG8 band took hold. Williver’s search for a vocalist that matched the values and could both command the stage and captivate the audience in a way that accentuates OG8’s eclectic rock-Americana-blues sound led him to Lynch.“W.O.M.A.N” is a profound, unapologetic anthem redefining the rock and roll landscape“I wanted to capture confidence, freedom and owning who you are without apology or explanation,” Lynch, a multiple winner of “Best of Las Vegas” for her powerful vocals and stage presence for Pussycat Dolls, Peep Show, Vegas The Show and more, said. “So many times as women in this society, and especially in this industry, we are expected to behave a certain way, look a certain way – be a certain way. This song is really about taking that power back and owning it for yourself.”Sure, the streams and the album sales are nice, but for OG8 the recognition that they have a bond and a central mission, they can look in the mirror and see that they are doing meaningful work. They are unapologetically true to themselves. Their origin story is rooted in decades of musical collaboration, friendship and a shared ideological belief system of love of music over pursuit of ego. Drummer Michael Thomas Underwood III, Renato Caranto on saxophone, George Mitchell on keyboard, bassist Phil Baker and sound engineer Drew Canulette round out the band.A recuring theme in all of their experiences - OG8 has endured the pressures and feeling of being overlooked.“Stay in this place – don’t go higher,” Lynch said. “People see you one way and use you for what they need. I want credit where it’s due.”Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-unplugged-totally-uncut--994165/support.
