Jane Eyre Chapter III

In which we awake to the tender ministrations of a kindly apothecary after a fearful night in a gloomy chamber, and hear a sombre song sung softly near a fading fire, reflecting the melancholy of an orphaned child dwelling in strange circumstances. We learn of whispered tales and hopes for change, while the heart is heavy with loneliness and a yearning for a life beyond the walls that feel more prison than home.
