In addition to reporting for the NewsHour across the globe, she has been recognized for award-winning journalism from the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia. Ferguson has covered many wars and humanitarian crises of our time. She reported from Yemen as protests grew into the Arab Spring; securing rare access to rebel-held Syria, to cover its civil war. Most notably, when the Taliban took Kabul in 2021, she was one of the last Western journalists to remain at the airport as thousands of Afghans, including some of her colleagues, struggled to evacuate. Her new book, No Ordinary Assignment: A Memoir (July 11th, 2023) reflects on her life – covering many of her many career highlights and triumphs Next up, Dr. Greg Skomal, marine biologist and author of the new book, Chasing Shadows: My Life Tracking the Great White Shark (July 11, 2023). In the book, the story chronicles the great white shark’s return to the eastern seaboard, told through the life of the scientist who found himself in the oftentimes thankless position of having to balance conservation efforts and the drive to do important science with panic and fear in the court of public opinion.
