Janessa & Nick Whatcott: Creating the NIXONSTRONG Foundation in honor of son Nixon, giving back to children with cancer and their families

from Beautiful Shifts · host Lindsay & Shantil

Today Janessa and Nick are on the podcast sharing about their son Nixon and his battle with cancer, and about the NIXONSTRONG Foundation they founded with Nixon to provide help for children with cancer and their families. They share about Nixon's diagnosis and his story, how the foundation came about and its purpose, Nixon's amazing example, and insights they've gained along the way.    They share examples of children and families the foundation has helped and about the upcoming annual baseball tournament fundraiser NIXONSTRONG is hosting in June, which is where the majority of the funds for the foundation come from. See how you can donate and get involved at nixonstrongfoundation.org.    Find and follow NIXONSTRONG on Instagram @nixonstrong where they post updates about the foundation and children they are helping.   Thank you so much to Nick and Janessa for sharing their touching story. We loved talking with them and learning more about Nixon's beautiful life and his legacy.

Wherever Life Takes Us whereverlifetakesuss Join three best friend as they explore this beautiful world! Half Ties kwamenabrace Half-ties is a conversation series on the funny, beautiful and sometimes challenging moments that interracial couples experience being with somebody who’s culturally different from them.Hosted by creative couple Olivia & Kwamena, we listen to stories about growing up with racism and prejudice; falling in love and meeting the in-laws; navigating difficult conversations within the family and in society, and how these couples make their relationship work and what they actively choose to pass down to the next generation. C.S. Lewis's The Last Battle St. Philip's Church: Charleston, SC Come join us on Wednesday nights as we explore the riches of C.S. Lewis’s marvelous book The Last Battle, which is the last of The Chronicles of Narnia. It is a remarkable book on multiple levels and was awarded the Carnegie Medal back in the 1950s when it was first published. The Last Battle has some themes in common with The Great Divorce and That Hideous Strength that will make it an excellent follow-up to those two books, and like them, it has some remarkable resonance with things going on in today’s culture. It is a book that is both theologically rich and poignantly beautiful in its writing, and it can help equip us to live boldly for Christ in a culture that has lost its way. (Although this book is the last of The Chronicles of Narnia, it can stand on its own and it is not necessary to have read the other books for this class.)
