But in Proverbs 5, Solomon warns us that chasing temporary pleasure without wisdom can lead to regret and destruction. At the same time, Matthew 16 challenges us with something even deeper: real freedom comes through surrender—denying ourselves and following Jesus, even when it’s hard. Both passages remind us that the decisions we make today shape who we become tomorrow.________________________________________THINK ABOUT IT1. Your Life is Under God's Gaze: Proverbs 5:21 reminds us that God sees every choice we make. That’s not meant to scare us—it’s meant to protect us. Are you living like your decisions matter to Him?2. Short-Term Pleasure vs. Long-Term Purpose: Proverbs warns against being pulled in by temptation that looks good in the moment. Think: are there choices you’re facing right now where it’s hard to say no, even though you know it’s not wise?3. Following Jesus Isn’t Always Easy: In Matthew 16, Jesus says we must take up our cross. That means choosing His way over our own—sacrificing comfort, popularity, or control.
