JANUARY 2 - Choose Wisdom Before It’s Too Late3-Year-Bible Reading: Proverbs 1:8-33 and Psalm 2. ________________________________________“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.” — Proverbs 1:7“Because I have called and you refused to listen, have stretched out my hand and no one has heeded…” — Proverbs 1:24“Blessed are all who take refuge in him.” — Psalm 2:12________________________________________Let’s be real—no one likes being told what to do. Whether it's a parent’s advice or a teacher’s warning, it's easy to brush it off and think, “I’ve got this.” But in Proverbs 1, wisdom is like a person calling out in the streets, trying to get our attention before it's too late. And in Psalm 2, we see a powerful reminder that God is in charge no matter what the world thinks. Both passages point to a truth we can’t ignore: choosing to listen to God leads to blessing, while ignoring Him brings consequences.________________________________________THINK ABOUT IT1. Who's Talking? Wisdom is described like a person shouting in public, trying to warn people. Are there people in your life—maybe parents, mentors, or friends—who speak godly wisdom to you? Are you listening?2. What Happens If We Ignore God? Proverbs warns that ignoring wisdom leads to regret. Psalm 2 shows that rebellion against God leads to judgment. Do you ever delay obeying God, thinking you’ll “get serious later”? What might you be risking?3. Where's Your Refuge? Psalm 2 ends with a promise: “Blessed are all who take refuge in him.” In tough times, where do you go for comfort or strength? Are you leaning into God—or escaping to distractions?________________________________________BOTTOM LINEGod offers wisdom freely, but we have to choose to listen. Taking Him seriously now leads to peace, protection, and purpose—while ignoring His voice can leave us stuck with consequences we never wanted.________________________________________PRAYERHeavenly Father, help me to recognize Your voice and choose wisdom over foolishness. Give me a heart that listens and obeys, even when it’s hard or unpopular. Remind me that true blessing comes from taking refuge in You.
