JANUARY 25 - Guard Your Heart, Guard Your Future3-Year-Bible Reading: Proverbs 7:1–27; Psalm 110:1; Matthew 22________________________________________“Say to wisdom, ‘You are my sister,’ and call insight your intimate friend, to keep you from the forbidden woman, from the adulteress with her smooth words.” — Proverbs 7:4–5“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” — Matthew 22:37________________________________________Temptation doesn’t usually look dangerous—it often looks fun, exciting, even “harmless.” But Proverbs 7 paints a vivid picture of what happens when we follow temptation without thinking about the consequences. A young man is led astray by someone who flatters him with words and seduces him into making choices that eventually destroy him. It’s a warning for all of us: not everything that feels good is good for us.Psalm 110 reminds us that God has given us power to rule—even in the middle of enemies. That includes temptation. And in Matthew 22:37, Jesus gives the key to staying strong: Love God with all your heart, soul, and mind. When God is your focus, and wisdom is your close friend, you’ll see temptation for what it really is—a trap.Following Jesus isn't about following rules. It's about guarding your heart so you can walk in the freedom and future He has for you.________________________________________THINK ABOUT IT1. Flattery is a trap: Are there voices in your life (online, at school, in your DMs) that seem smooth and exciting—but are pulling you away from what’s right?2. Wisdom is your friend: Who are the people or what are the habits in your life that help you grow wiser and stronger in your faith?3. Love leads to strength: How can loving God more fully with your heart, soul, and mind help you make better choices when no one is watching?________________________________________BOTTOM LINEWhen you guard your heart with wisdom and love God fully, you won’t fall for every trap that looks tempting.________________________________________PRAYERHeavenly Father, help me to walk in wisdom and keep my heart focused on You. When temptation comes, give me strength to see through the lies and stand firm in Your truth. Teach me to love You with everything I am. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
