JANUARY 5 - Trust the Guide3-Year-Bible Reading: Proverbs 3:5-6; Matthew 2________________________________________“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” — Proverbs 3:5–6“And being warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they departed to their own country by another way.” — Matthew 2:12________________________________________Have you ever used GPS and still ended up lost? You followed every direction, but something didn’t feel right—and sure enough, you ended up at a dead end or the wrong address. Life is kind of like that sometimes. We try to figure out our next move based on what seems right to us, but things don’t always go as planned. That’s why Proverbs 3:5–6 encourages us to trust God more than we trust our own understanding. In Matthew 2, the wise men didn’t go back to Herod like they originally planned—they followed God’s warning instead. When God guides, it’s always the right way, even if it doesn’t make total sense in the moment.________________________________________THINK ABOUT IT1. God’s GPS: Are you trusting God with all your heart, or are you relying on your own understanding? What might it look like to “acknowledge Him” in your everyday decisions—like school, friendships, or your future?2. When Plans Change: The wise men had to change their route because of God’s warning. How do you react when God redirects your plans? Are you willing to follow, even when it’s inconvenient or confusing?3. God Sees the Bigger Picture: Sometimes we only see part of the story, but God sees it all. How does knowing that help you trust Him more deeply?________________________________________BOTTOM LINEGod always knows the best path—even when we don’t. Trusting Him with your whole heart leads to a life that’s guided by His wisdom and purpose.________________________________________PRAYERHeavenly Father, thank You for being the perfect guide. Help me to trust You, especially when I don’t understand what’s happening. Teach me to listen for Your voice and follow Your direction, just like the wise men did. Make my path straight, and help me live a life that honors You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
