January 5th: Giving Second Chances | Devotional for Kids Carpooling with Jesus Kids Devotional

Hey Carpool Crew… I’m Pastor Justin, and whether you are heading to school or getting ready for the day at home, I am so glad you are here. Mondays are a fresh start, but sometimes they come with old feelings from last week. Today we are talking about second chances. Matthew 5:7 (CSB) says, “Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.” Jesus shared these words during the Sermon on the Mount. Mercy means choosing kindness instead of payback and giving someone a second chance. Jesus teaches us that mercy is not weak. Mercy is brave. Jesus forgives us again and again, and He invites us to do the same for others. When we choose mercy, we let go of anger and move forward with kindness. So today, think about someone who hurt you last week. Instead of holding onto it, choose mercy. Say hello. Be kind. Give a second chance. Mercy does not make you weak. It makes you free.
