In today's episode we discuss: —Adjusting Practice During COVID-19: A team of cardiologists and pharmacists from hospitals in Shanghai and Wuhan, China assessed the association between mortality in hospitalized COVID-19 patients (n=535) and low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) use between January 26-March 26, 2020. They found overall adjusted odds ratio for mortality was lower in the LMWH-users vs non-users (0.20; 95% CI, 0.09-0.46), specifically in severe (0.08; 95% CI, 0.01–0.62) and critically ill cases (0.32; 95% CI ,0.10–0.996). Authors suggest LMWH appears correlated with a survival benefit in hospitalized COVID-19 patients, especially those severely and critically ill.
