Oprah speaks with the author of her latest Oprah’s Book Club selection Jarvis Jay Master. Written from prison, his memoir chronicles his tumultuous childhood which was impacted by addiction, poverty, violence and the foster care system. The conversation takes place over the phone as Jarvis is currently sitting on death row in California’s San Quentin State Prison for a crime he says he did not commit. Jarvis explains how the practice of Buddhism has kept him sane and allowed him to become a role model for fellow inmates, guards and a growing public audience. Hosted on Acast.
