Jason Myers Enters Year 12 Ready for Another Championship Run With Seattle
from Voxcali · host Voxcali
After a historic Super Bowl performance and a record-breaking career, veteran kicker Jason Myers is ready to help the Seattle Seahawks defend their title. The NFL season starts with an exciting Super Bowl rematch, and Filipino American kicker Jason Myers, in his 12th NFL season, looks to carry the Seahawks’ championship momentum forward. He served as the sole player to score points through the first three quarters of Seattle’s 29-13 victory, ultimately setting a single-game championship record by connecting on all five of his field goal attempts alongside two extra points. Now 35 years old, Myers has established an impressive tenure with the Seattle Seahawks, highlighted by elite production and major professional awards. Over his career, he has earned selection to two Pro Bowls and finished twice as the NFL scoring leader. His historic Super Bowl performance crowned a campaign where he became the first player in NFL history to score over 200 points in a single season including playoffs. His professional journey began unconventionally after going undrafted out of college. Myers caught his first professional break in 2014 by playing in the Arena Football League for the San Jose SaberCats and Arizona Rattlers. The following year he entered the NFL signing with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Through 38 games in Jacksonville he converted 81% of his field goals, before eventually being released mid-way through the 2017 season. After spending a brief offseason stint with the Seahawks, he was claimed off waivers by the New York Jets in 2018. During his lone season in New York, Myers had a breakout year – earning a Pro Bowl selection after making 33 of 36 field goals, setting a franchise record with seven field goals in a single game, and nailing an NFL-record five makes from 55 yards out or further. Myers returned to Seattle to find a permanent home, cementing himself among the league's most reliable legs. Before reaching the pros, Myers built his foundation playing college football as a four-year letterman for the Marist Red Foxes, handling both kicking and punting duties. Growing up, he was a multi-sport athlete at San Diego’s Mater Dei Catholic High School. With the new season underway, Myers is once again locked in as he looks to help the Seahawks defend their crown.
