Jason Picks - Ivans XTC

Sometimes, you gotta take a break from the blow and booze and just enjoy…Ivan’s xtc.Danny Huston (who I had no idea was absolutely amazing) stars as Ivan Beckman, a top level Hollywood agent who’s been trying to get Peter Weller to direct a script by one of his writers. But? He dies in the beginning of the movie and the rest is a flashback. This is based on a Tolstoy novel, directed by Bernard Rose (who would eventually do quite a few Huston movies), and Danny Huston walks around with the most amazing joker grin on his face for almost the whole movie. The sleaze, the wheeling and dealing, the drugs, all of it comes in second place to Huston’s performance as a man who is always putting on a performance, even as he faces the final darkness. I had never heard of this thing and figured why not. Turned out to be a wonderful whim to follow.If you like this episode, there’s a lot of Jason and Jules’s choices to cruise through.
