He earned bachelor's and master’s degrees in athletic training from Northern Kentucky University and ODU, respectively.  He earned a PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences from the University of Kentucky. Dr. McCann currently teaches in ODU’s Master of Science in Athletic Training program and is co-director of the PhD in Kinesiology & Rehabilitation program. His research focuses on risk factors, neuromuscular consequences, and interventions for ankle injuries.
