JAY JESSE JOHNSON - 80's Rock Blues Guitar Man - Episode 7

from Rick Flynn Presents · host Rick Flynn

Raised in God's country, rural Indiana, JAY JESSE JOHNSON, worked in his Dad's filling station and earned extra money bailing hay until one day the desire to chase a Rock & Roll dream came knocking on his mental door and off to New York he went with no band and no job. Toting a Fender Bassman amp and a Stratocaster guitar, it turned out to be Connecticut that made the dream come true when, as a member of local band CRYER Jay Jesse Johnson performed with some of the world's greatest and most well known musicians. Some might call it the "Who's Who" of Rock & Roll which led Portrait Recording Artists, ARC ANGEL, to hire him as their lead guitarist where the group had the hit record "Tragedy" as well as appearances as one of the very first bands to be shown on the early version of the newly created MTV. As a member of the band DEADRINGER, which featured members of the ALICE COOPER band and BLUE OYSTER CULT band, Jay Jesse Johnson developed a nearly lifelong friendship with ALICE COOPER drummer Neal Smith who is a Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame drummer. To date, Jay Jesse Johnson has appeared in over twenty-five record albums and six of his own solo albums. Among his solo albums are "I've Got An Axe To Grind" and "Play That Damn Guitar." He continues to lecture at colleges and proves, in this Rick Flynn Presents podcast, that he is an eloquent spokesperson for the art which he has spent his entire life mastering. Jay Jesse Johnson loves the fans and loves to discuss this business of Rock & Roll which everyone will clearly see in this highly entertaining podcast. Oh, and by the way, he still lives on a farm to this very day when, after forty years, he finally made it back home where the JAY JESSE JOHNSON BAND is currently based.
