This interview is with Jeff Woodard of Woodard Wines. In this interview, Jeff discusses how his education at Linfield College informed his current job in the Oregon Wine Industry. He speaks of the various places he worked, as well as his current job in owning a retail wine shop. He states that “wine is about learning and experimenting with different things,” and that is showcased within his work as his wines on the shelves are constantly evolving to maintain a fresh atmosphere. Jeff offers his global knowledge of wine and includes tips for selling wine that mainly has to do with forging good relationships with customers. Towards the end of the interview, he also talks about his sister’s business with Detour, as well as his partnership with her. Lastly, he goes on to discuss Oregon Pinot Noir, as well as the attention Oregon has been getting; Jeff plans to continue expanding in his business, as well as educating. He states that wine is a “living, breathing thing” that is constantly changing— his passion for business and wine itself shines through this interview.
