Jeffrey Robbins CleanAIRE NC Executive Director

from WPTF Afternoon News

A Charlotte-based environmental nonprofit is suing the Trump administration after it canceled a funding grant to test air quality in northern Mecklenburg County. CleanAIRE NC was alerted in March that the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Government Efficiency terminated its $500,000 grant as part of an effort to curb federal spending. The nonprofit was awarded the grant in 2023 to test air quality in lower income communities in Huntington Green, Pottstown, Smithville and West Davidson. Jeffrey Robbins, the Executive Director of CleanAIRE NC, joined Jeff Hamlin to discuss why they’re taking legal action.
