Jehovah — Jehovah Rapha: The Lord Our Healer

After the worship at the Red Sea, Israel grumbles for water at Marah, and God makes the bitter water sweet, declaring in Exodus 15:26 that He is Jehovah-Rapha , the Lord who heals. This message deliberately corrects how healing is often taught. Two extremes are rejected: that God always heals and unanswered prayer signals hidden sin or weak faith, and that miraculous healing ended with Scripture. The text shows Jesus repeatedly healing only one among many, and faithful believers still suffering. God does not promise immunity from a fallen world, and trials, unlike temptations, are not always something we can bear without being broken open to depend on Him. Sickness is traced to sin, to our own choices, and at times to God's sovereign purpose. The landing is honest: blessing follows obedience, God still heals, and trust must hold even when the prayer is answered differently than we hoped.
