Jehovah — Jehovah Tsidkenu: The Lord Our Righteousness — Sermon Illustration

Sin began as an archery term: the arrow loosed, the bullseye missed. This short illustration walks that picture into everyday life, asking not only whether we hit the mark God sets but whether we are even aiming at the paper. The standard touches every area — marriage, parenting, finances, the things we give our time and worship to. Drawing on Ephesians 5 and Romans 3:23 , it frames God as the standard-bearer we keep falling short of, and parents as their children's primary picture of who that standard-maker is. The turn is from guilt to grace. Because all have sinned, all needed a Savior; Jehovah Tsidkenu, the Lord our righteousness , is also the one who bore the punishment on the cross so that failure need not end in shame but in the grace already given.
