Jema Patterson, Labor

from The Odyssey Storytelling Podcast

Some stories at Odyssey's January 2017 "Labor" show were about birth. Some were about unionizing. And some, like Jema Patterson's, were about specific labors unique to their lives alone. Like, for example, meeting a hot, smart, Spanish guy on a ferry and somehow failing to mention that you have a boyfriend. From Jema's Odyssey bio: Jema Patterson is a free-spirited life-hacker driven by math and insatiable curiosity. Due to her learning addiction, she has crossed 45 international borders and held more than 26 blue, white, and no-collar jobs. Currently, she wants someone in Tucson to teach her appliance and small engine repair. She likes writing stories for people, and last month it dawned on her that she should try telling them out-loud, too. This episode was performed and recorded in front of a live audience at The Screening Room in Tucson, AZ, on January 5th, 2015, and was curated by Jen Nowicki Clark.
