作者,配音,編輯:(Trevor) 第二配音員:(Paz) Hi, hello, greetings, howdy, salutations, 你好, what's up? We're here with News Bites on a Saturday… we hope today's not too hard for you! She's Paz Bueno… And he's Trevor Tortomasi. Okay, today's stories: Jeremy Lin comes to Taiwan, Russians find a village of polar bears, and a space telescope gets photobombed. Let's go! ________________________________ 林書豪加入高雄鋼鐵人籃球隊 Jeremy Lin Joins the Kaohsiung Steelers LINSANITY! If you like watching basketball (籃球), you may have heard that word before. It comes from the name of a famous basketball player, Jeremy Lin (林書豪), and the word "insanity" (瘋狂), which means… crazy! Jeremy Lin was the NBA's first Taiwanese-American player, in 2012. At that time, no one knew who Jeremy Lin was… But then suddenly (突然), he was winning lots of games… Since then (自從那個時候), Lin has played for many different basketball teams, in the U.S., Canada, and China. And now, finally… he's playing here in Taiwan! Jeremy Lin played his first game with the Kaohsiung Steelers (高雄鋼鐵人) on February 12th… and they won! But Lin says he's not just here to play… he wants to help the younger generation play, too. He says he is finding his passion for basketball again (找回他打籃球的熱情), and he wants to pass it on. What a Lincredible guy! ________________________________ 遠方的北極熊小村 The Faraway Village of Polar Bears In the cold north (冰冷的北方), there are many places most people won't go. One of those places is Kolyuchin Island (科柳欽島), in northeast Russia (俄羅斯東北方). A long time ago, people lived in little houses on the island, and worked there in a weather station (氣象站). Now, the weather station and the houses are all abandoned (廢棄的), and there are no people left. But if you're brave enough to go to Kolyuchin Island now, you might see birds… walruses (海象)… And a village of polar bears (北極熊)! A group of people sailing near the island (航行到島嶼附近) found the bears living inside the old houses there, and sent some drones (無人機) to take pictures. From their pictures, they saw at least 20 bears walking around outside, while other bears stayed inside the old houses with their cubs. Animal experts (動物專家) say polar bears probably went inside the houses because they are very curious (好奇的), and like to open doors and windows. But polar bears have also been hunted by humans (被人類獵捕), so the bears might have gone inside the houses to stay safe with their families. Either way, the island doesn't belong to humans anymore Now, it belongs to the bears! ________________________________ 小行星亂入韋伯望遠鏡拍照 Asteroid Photobombs Webb Telescope If you have ever taken a picture, then you know that sometimes, other people can get in the way of your camera. For example, if you're taking a picture of your mom or dad, and your little brother jumps in front of the camera… We could call that a "photobomb" (拍照時亂入) from your little brother. But photobombing doesn't just happen with people… It can also happen to the James Webb Space Telescope (韋伯太空望遠鏡), also called the JWST, one of the most powerful telescopes ever! Thanks to the JWST, we now have amazing pictures of galaxies (星系), nebulas (星雲), and all kinds of stars. But recently, scientists were using the JWST to look at the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. They were focusing on (聚焦在) one of the bigger asteroids, but then… A much smaller rock flew in front of it! Scientists were surprised, because they didn't think they could see something so small. In fact, it may be the smallest thing the JWST has seen so far! Scientists say that just from this photobomb, they learned a little more about their telescope, and about outer space. So, um… go jump in a friend's picture and teach them something! ________________________________ So, in today's News Bites: Jeremy Lin played his first game with the Kaohsiung Steelers on February 12th… and they won!
