Send us a text message ! This episode reaches back into Detroit’s turbulent past to revisit the unsolved murder of Jerry Buckley, a fiery radio commentator whose voice shook the political landscape of the early 1930s. Just hours after delivering one of his most blistering broadcasts, Buckley was gunned down in the lobby of the La Salle Hotel — a killing that stunned the city and ignited a storm of speculation that has never fully settled. With their signature blend of sharp storytelling, empathy, and Michigan‑rooted humor, the hosts guide listeners through the chaotic world Buckley inhabited: corrupt politics, Prohibition‑era power struggles, and a city teetering between reform and organized crime. They explore the suspects, the motives, the botched investigation, and the lingering theories that still swirl around the case nearly a century later. The tone stays grounded and respectful, focusing on the human story behind the headlines and the enduring mystery that keeps Buckley’s name alive. After the deep dive into this historic unsolved case, the episode shifts into its musical spotlight, featuring Grave Next Door. Their heavy, doom‑tinged sound delivers the show’s trademark “good note,” offering listeners a cathartic release after a journey through one of Detroit’s most infamous cold cases.
