JERRY VAN DYKE sings- to Make you Wonder about LASER DOT POINTERS & BIRDS
from spookylorre
"It Kinda Makes You Wonder" was a song in the notorious one-performance musical "Kelly." With Moose Charlap supplying the music, it seemed a surefire hit. That was probably why Jerry Van Dyke was offered a chance to possibly get a hit from one of the show's songs. You kinda "wonder" what Mr. Kelly (or another cast member) was doing while singing this piece. Here, we can imagine playing "laser pointer" games with boids. Charlap's wife Sandy Stewart was in the original cast. Lyrics are by Eddie Lawrence, who is best remembered for his "Old Philosopher" novelty 45's. He was also in "Bells are Ringing," and his paintings (under his real name Lawrence Eisler) are true works of art. Jerry, who showed such promise guesting as Stacy Petrie on a few episodes of "The Dick Van Dyke Show," was quickly picked to join the cast of "The Judy Garland Show." He was in the running to play Jack Mullaney's part in the sitcom "My Living Doll," and Gilligan on "Gilligan's Island." Instead, figuring a talking car could be as much of a hit as previous sitcoms about a talking dog and a talking horse, he starred for a year in "My Mother the Car." Later, "Accidental Family" and ultimately, won fans and Emmy nominations. for his co-starring on "Coach." He also appeared regular in regional theater. In 2011 he teamed with Tommy Smothers for a production of "The Sunshine Boys."
