Jesus and Death
from Redeemer Downtown Messages · host Rev. Pete Nicholas
This is Redeemer Downtown's live stream 10 a.m. worship service on Sunday, March 1, 2026.Today’s passage is layered with significant details describing this scene where Jesus comes across a funeral procession and his engagement with the widow and her son. We are told the woman is a widow and her only son has died. Her level of loss is catastrophic, especially in this time period, and yet full of hope because of Jesus. We see such a picture of compassion where Jesus steps in, reaching out to touch the coffin (when it was considered unclean to do so) and speaking the son back to life. We see time and time again how Jesus was moved with compassion and mercy to action to alleviate heartache and suffering that even death can not hold him back. As we reflect today, perhaps we can gently ask ourselves: What might Jesus be inviting me to trust Him with? Where do I need to believe that His compassion is still at work?May this story open our hearts to hope, even in the places that feel so final. You can find all the various upcoming gatherings on the Events page of our website - http://redeemerdt.com/events.Today's worship bulletin: http://redeemerdt.com/bulletinsWe're thankful to have you join us for worship!NEXT STEPS:You can find all the various upcoming gatherings on the Events page of our website - http://redeemerdt.com/events.Give to the ministry of Redeemer Downtown: http://redeemerdt.com/giveSUBSCRIBE:Sign up to receive our newsletter to stay up to date with announcements, events, and more: https://redeemer-downtown.http/churchcenter.com/people/forms/1059071Don’t miss a video!
